Tweaks I use myself

Being the developer of an application you use yourself has its advantages. Besides adding new features whenever I run into something I would like to do but can’t, it also enables me to set the default settings just the way I like them.

DVD Catalyst 4 Video : Power User mode

New in DVD Catalyst 4 is “Power User” mode.

By default, DVD Catalyst 4 runs in Basic mode. Most of the settings and options that can complicate things for new users are hidden from view. For experienced users, just enable the “Power User” checkmark at the bottom right, and all of the options and features of DVD Catalyst 4 are accessible, giving you total control over your conversions.

DVD Catalyst 4 Video : Quickly convert a folder of video files

Our favorite feature of DVD Catalyst 4.

Back in 2003, when we started development on our video conversion software, our main reason was that we could not find an easy way to convert a large collection of video files without having to convert them individually. The one feature missing from all similar apps was (and still is, 6+ years later) the ability to just add a folder containing 10, 20 or maybe even 100 different video files, and with 1 click, all these files will be converted using the selected settings. Some programs offer a “Batch” feature, but still require you to add files individually, set up/verify the conversion settings for each file, and add it to a “batch” list.

DVD Catalyst 4 uses a technique we call “Transparent Batch”. Everything you do in DVD Catalyst is done in Batch-mode, so the whole process is transparent to the user. Just add as many files, folders and DVDs as you want, and then with 1 magic click, all will be converted in sequence. By the time you have set-up a conversion for 100 files using similar products, most of the files are already converted with DVD Catalyst 4.

Just start the program, drag your files or folders containing files onto DVD Catalyst, and click Go. Its as simple as that.
