So much for being able to keep up with the newsletter on a regular basis.
But here goes.
It has been a few weeks since the last one. Work is taking its toll on me. Going from software development and IT to CNC machine operator is quite a step. The first 2 weeks, my biggest adjustment was the move from sitting on my butt for most of the day to standing for 10 hours a day, but some inlay soles got that taken care of thankfully. Now it is mainly the long hours of physical labor that are taking its toll, along with a painful realization that I have to get used to different carpel tunnel issues along with it.
The heavy steel parts, and using the tools to mount/unmount parts in their fixtures are waking up the muscles in my hands and wrists in a different way than when using a keyboard / trackball, so this summer I might have to look into something I put off for quite some time. Get things fixed. I’m not looking forward to either, but waking up in the middle of the night with locked up hands and wrists isn’t fun.
Anyway, surprisingly, typing seems to help calm things down somehow.
Work has been getting better too. At first, time was going really slow. I picked up a radio with rechargable batteries which helped for a week, but unfortunately reception only gave me access to 2 radio stations. One with only 7 songs in their database, and another some experimental classical station. While I don’t mind me some Mozart, if it sounds like a 4 year old is playing his/her first violin lesson, it doesn’t really help in passing the time. The grinding of my CNC machine was more musical than that. So, 2 weeks ago, I picked up a rechargable bluetooth speaker to use with my hone, and that has been working great. My “unlimited data” plan only gives me Pandora for a week (then the plan switches to 3G which doesn’t seem to work with Pandora), but iHeart Radio works from then on. It helps pass the time, thats all that matters.
Anyway, I’m off to catch up on some things around the house, so thats it for this one.
