Today Real Steel was released on DVD, and it came in the mail. Since it is a high-profile movie, I figured I’d run it through its paces to make sure the movie works fine with DVD Catalyst 4:
Start DVD Catalyst 4 using the shortcut.
Insert the DVD, and DVD Catalyst 4 will scan it for content.
After that, select your device profile. For this conversion, I used the Asus Transformer Prime HQXT profile. (for information about the different profiles, please have a look here)
In addition to selecting the best profile for DVD conversions, I also enabled the new CRF feature in DVD Catalyst 4, and set it to 20 to create the best quality video file from the Real Steel DVD:
To enable it, perform the following steps:
1. enable Power User at the bottom right
2. Go into Global Settings
3. Select the “Tweaks” tab
4. Enable CRF
(for information on CRF, check the DVD Catalyst 4 release notes or the latest newsletter)
After that, start a conversion. Tap close to go out of Global Settings, then simply tap Go to start the process.
The created file looks great and ended up slightly under 2GB in size:
