Earlier today I had someone mention a complication with Killer Elite, so I ran it through the latest ( v4.1.3.2) version of DVD Catalyst 4.

The issue itself turned out to be a settings issue, the Killer Elite DVD converted without any complications.

For this test I used the DVD from the Killer Elite Bluray + DVD + Digital Copy box, and I used DVD Catalyst 4 v4.1.3.2 using the default settings. I selected the Amazon > Kindle Fire HQXT profile.

For instructions on how to use DVD Catalyst 4 with the Kindle Fire, have a look at this How To Guide.

No issues during scanning. It did list a special feature, so I right-clicked on that one, and removed it:

New in this version of DVD Catalyst 4 is the CRF function, which is great. Combined with the HQXT profiles, this produces near-mint video files from your DVDs.

To enable it, perform the following steps:

1. Select one of the HQXT profiles for your device (if available)

2. enable Power User at the bottom right

3. Go into Global Settings

4. Select the “Tweaks” tab

5. Enable CRF

(for information on CRF, check the DVD Catalyst 4 release notes or the latest newsletter)

The default value is “safe”. It produces good looking video files at a reasonable filesize. To get the best quality, change the CRF setting to 22, or even 20.

After that, start the conversion as normal. (note, CRF will remain enabled, so once you make the change, DVD Catalyst will remember it)

The resulting file is slightly over 1GB in size, and looks amazing on the Kindle Fire
