The Bluray version of Fast Five is a mess.
After scanning the Bluray with DVD Catalyst (note, for Bluray conversions you will need something like AnyDVD HD or MakeMKV in order for it to work), the conversion list contains a large collection of small clips.
While these clips can be converted, you end up with a lot of smaller files, and will have to puzzle to get the proper scene order.
The best way to convert this Bluray (DVD is easier though) is to first rip the Bluray to MKV with MakeMKV.
As long as it is still in Beta, its free to use. If you have used it before, you might have to visit their forums to obtain an updated beta key.
After you download and install MakeMKV, insert your Fast Five Bluray. If you do have AnyDVD HD or DVDfab Passkey for Bluray, turn it off before you insert the disk.
Then start MakeMKV, and it will briefly look at the disk:
Then tap on the big button in the middle:
to have it perform a deep scan of the Bluray:
After that is completed it will display all the tracks/play lists on the Bluray:
By default, everything is selected. Since we just want the Fast Five movie, uncheck all the shorter ones. The movie is listed twice, one for the theatrical cut and another for the extended version. I always go for the extended, so I picked the one with the largest filesize:
then tap on the MakeMKV button:
to start the process:
After a while, it will have created a (large) MKV file of the Bluray:
Now close MakeMKV, eject your Bluray, and start DVD Catalyst 4:
Then drag your newly created MKV file onto DVD Catalyst 4 and it will scan it:
change the settings to your liking (I used Transformer Prime HQ1 for this one) and start a conversion:
Using the Transformer Prime HQ1 profile in DVD Catalyst 4, the conversion of the MKV file of Fast Five Bluray (Extended Edition) ended up with a size of close to 2.5GB, and took about 45 minutes.
