While not really a “problem DVD”, the subtitles for this particular movie are handled a bit differently than usual. Most DVDs that have foreign language sections use something called “Forced Subtitles”, subtitles that appear when spoken words are in a language different than that of the rest of the movie, for example, Avatar and District 9.

In order to get subtitles for the German-spoken scenes of X-Men First Class, scan the DVD as normal with DVD Catalyst 4:

and in the dropdown for the subtitles, select the second English subtitle track.

and start a conversion.

After that you end up with subtitles only for the foreign language areas.
