Quick Guide : DVD Catalyst 4 & HP Touchpad

Since questions started coming in on how to use DVD Catalyst 4 with the HP Touchpad, I picked one up today (16GB model) in order to get the best settings figured out.

I haven’t had much playtime with it, but of course the first thing I did was putting a video on it. I had one left over that I did a few days ago using the Android > Xoom profile, and it loaded just fine.

I will write a more detailed guide for the touchpad over the next few days, once I have more information gathered and maybe even better settings, but for now, here is what I did to make it work:

I basically created a video using the Xoom profile. For a guide on how to get started, please have a look here for more info:

After that, I connected the Touchpad to the PC (maybe blasphemy, but I used the Xoom’s USB cable). The Touchpad then asks for a connection:

HP Touchpad USB Connection

Tap USB drive here, and Windows will see the HP Touchpad as a drive in “My Computer.

I dragged the movie from “My Videos” over to the Touchpad, and that was basically it.

To watch the video on your Touchpad, open the “Photos abd Videos” app, and your movie will be listed in “Miscellaneous”

For some reason, just like on Android, the movie title is not displayed, but whats even more annoying is that it doesn’t display a thumbnail either.

My guess is that the AlbumArt feature in DVD Catalyst 4 (power user > global settings > conversion) will take care of this, but I haven’t tested it yet.

Enjoy your Touchpad, and make sure to check the Latest News section to look for new articles over the next couple of days.

(note, dvd catalyst supports DVDs, Video Files, and with the help of AnyDVD HD/DVDfab Passkey or MakeMKV, it can do Bluray as well)
