12-24-2010: Fix available here
The last couple of days, we have been receiving questions about unexplainable failed conversions.
Everything appears to work normally, but as soon as a conversion starts, briefly an error message appears, and the conversion process fails.
Doing some extensive testing and troubleshooting, we have found that the problem is directly tied to recently purchased computers and laptops with a 64bit AMD processor. On Intel systems, these problems do not exist.
While it is clear that our own software (DVD Catalyst Free, DVD Catalyst Free Plus and DVD Catalyst 4) are experiencing these issues, many similar products have the same problem. Popular programs such as Slysoft’s Clone DVD Mobile and Handbrake, due to using similar conversion techniques, are also affected.

We are aware of the problem, and are doing what we can to resolve this issue.
Unfortunately most of the video player devices available use the H264 AVC video format, including all Apple devices and most Android devices. However, due to the way DVD Catalyst 4 works, you can make a temporary adjustment in the settings to still be able to create video files compatible with your device.
If you are experiencing these issues, enable “Power User” mode in DVD Catalyst 4, click on “Modify” and change the conversion format from h264_ipod to mpeg4_ipod.
For best results (due to the lower compression quality of the mpeg4 format) we would recommend increasing the video quality a bit as well.
