DVD Catalyst Fake Virus Issues

by Mitch - September 17th, 2009. Filed under: Uncategorized.

For some reason, DVD Catalyst might get flagged by a few virus scanners as something infected. This is a false positive.

The problem lies in a protection system we use to reduce software piracy, and to create a trial version that expires. The protection-software we use is sometimes used by software-pirates to create malicious software (cracks, keygens etc), and as a result, some poorly designed virus scanner applications think that because DVD Catalyst uses the same protection that it is malicious software.

We are currently in communication with the protection-software company, as well as looking around for other solutions that will remedy this problem.

Please note, DVD Catalyst is NOT infected. Virus scanners use methods to predict if a program is infected, and usually work in a way of better being safe than sorry, and thus flag applications that partially include some little code that a virus uses.

For any questions or suggestions feel free to contact us by email.

Our sincere apologies for any confusion this might cause.
