One of the most powerful tools that works with DVD Catalyst is AnyDVD.
AnyDVD, a commercial application by SlySoft, is the best companion for DVD Catalyst. While DVD Catalyst can handle most DVDs without any issues, some of the newer DVDs feature a protection system that can cause some weird issues.
AnyDVD is an application that works as a layer between the DVD movie and a DVD application. It works in the background, and strips DVDs from protection, removes traps (fake tracks), and even makes them region-free. While there are other programs that can do this, these programs copy the DVD to your computer, which takes time and harddisk space. AnyDVD does it transparent to the program, and does not require you to copy the DVD to your computer.
With AnyDVD running, any DVD application will see the DVD as an unprotected DVD, enabling the application to have full access without worries. For DVD Catalyst, the benefits are substantial, which is why we have a link on the frontpage to it.
With AnyDVD installed,
*DVD Catalyst detects DVDs faster. Fake tracks are already removed by AnyDVD, so these will not be scanned.
*DVD Catalyst converts faster. The protection is removed, so DVD Catalyst does not have to work around this.
*DVD Catalyst converts more reliable. With the fake tracks removed, and other protection issues such as mixed up scene ordering, conversions of tougher DVDs will work even better.
AnyDVD is not free, but can be used with all DVD applications, including DVD Catalyst.
