DVD Catalyst 3.82 Released
by Mitch - August 17th, 2009. Filed under: Release Notes, Uncategorized. The biggest update for a long time, but mainly under the hood.
A few new things have been added (even ones I did not mention in the previous progress updates)
File-size indication for selected output location. Resulting from troubleshooting a conversion issue with a DVD Catalyst user. The external hard disk that was used to store the converted files onto was full, which caused conversions to fail all the time. With DVD Catalyst 3.82, underneath the output location, DVD Catalyst now shows how much storage space is available. While a warning message would be helpful as well, we decided not to do that, due to the automatic nature of DVD Catalyst.
CPU usage indicator(s). At the bottom, DVD Catalyst 3 now shows one or more CPU indicators. This tells you how busy your computer is, before and during a conversion. DVD Catalyst automatically counts your processors/cores etc, and displays a little counter for each of them.
Boosterpack 2. The new Boosterpack 2 installs some additional stuff to make certain video formats work. It is needed to be able to convert many different AVCHD video files, as well as FLV and VC1 video formats.
Run before/after conversion. Requested a few times, and finally implemented. You can tell DVD Catalyst to run something before the conversion starts, as well as when the conversion is complete. It will accept all file types, so you can set it up to play a sound or an MP3 before or after a conversion, or, for advanced users, you could use it to run a script/batch file to turn off a software application, and start it again when the conversions are done.
Shutdown DVD Catalyst when done. While it was already possible to have DVD Catalyst turn off your computer after conversions are finished, DVD Catalyst can now turn itself off when it has finished with the conversions.
Ask for track detection. Upon request, you can have DVD Catalyst ask for what tracks of a DVD need to be scanned. If you converted the DVD before, or for DVDs that take a long time scanning, this can be a time-saver.
SRT Subtitle scale. On some conversions, the font-size of video files with seperate subtitle files can be quite small. You can adjust the size for these.
FIXED:
A lot of less-common video files (install boosterpack2)
2 Pass conversions (file size was quite a bit bigger than estimated)
Blank output folder issue. In some rare cases the output folder was not usable
A lot more had been addressed than the above.
DVD Catalyst 3 3.82 has been uploaded to all the sales websites and download locations, but due to server synchronization it might take a few hours before the update is available.
