Dead eeePC, Quick RMA return from ASUS

2 weeks ago, my eeePC died. I’m not sure what happened, but it might have had something to do with switching harddrives (7200rpm).

On Wednesday, July 15, I called Asus Support, and after a little while, talked to a support rep, and when I explained what it did, and added that I am actually a computer technician (which I am) and tried a few tricks of my own to fix it, I received an RMA number to send it in. For some reason, we got disconnected, but amazingly, when I called back, and spend 2 minutes going through the phone system, I actually ended up with the same support rep, and he was calling me back at the same time! Unbelievable.

On Friday, July 17th, I mailed out the eeePC, as described in the RMA email Asus sent me, with UPS. It arrived there after the weekend.

Today, July 27, my eeePC arrived, all fixed and working. I was expecting a replacement unit, but they actually send me back my own, but working.

Overall, no bad words about Asus, Their support is great, and the return time on the eeePC RMA is exceptional 10 days, which includes 2 weekends, so actually 6 business days.

The only gripe I have is that the RMA section on the ASUS website is a. Hard to find and b. non-functional. After I finally found out where I could put in my RMA number, it did not return any results.

Thanks ASUS, I’ve been a loyal ASUS customer ever since I build my first PC, and still have their very best motherboard ever, the P2B, in the shed in a working system, and will continue to be an ASUS fan
