The “Automation” tab in DVD Catalyst Global Settings shows options that enable you to make DVD Catalyst 3 run without the need to click on anything.
* Convert automatically. As soon as video content, either DVDs or video files are added to DVD Catalyst, it will automatically start a conversion using the selected profile. You can still add additional stuff to DVD Catalyst by dragging it onto the program, however, it will not look at that until the current conversion has completed. This is handy if you convert a lot of DVDs. Whenever DVD is finished with a DVD, it ejects it, and if you put a new one in and close the tray, DVD Catalyst will convert it without the need to click on a button.
*Remember added folders. When you add folders to DVD Catalyst, and this is enabled, it will remember them. The next (and every) time DVD Catalyst is run, it will look at the folders you added for video files. This is handy for TV recording folder from Media Center or Tivo Desktop.
*Check for new files every X minutes. When DVD Catalyst is finished converting, it will check for new content. If nothing new is found, it will look again continuously, based on the time set here. By default, it will check every minute, but you might want to adjust it to something like half an hour. This setting is handy if you have DVD Catalyst monitor TV recordings folders. Whenever a new file is found in your folders, it will be found and added automatically.
Skip previously converted files. This setting will enable DVD Catalyst to keep a list of all the files it converts and creates. If enabled, DVD Catalyst will ignore the file if it is added to the program again. If you keep your original files in the same location as where you have DVD Catalyst look for new content (TV recordings folder) it would be best to enable this. While DVD Catalyst skips files it has converted and they are already in the queue, every time you start DVD Catalyst, it will have a clean queue, and will add (and convert) the same files again.
*File history. This brings up a screen showing the remembered files and folders. You can ad/remove from here as well.
