2 weeks ago, my eeePC died. I’m not sure what happened, but it might have had something to do with switching harddrives (7200rpm).

I would suggest to start with the Apple iPhone profile,
click on modify, change the screen size to 640×360, increase the video quality to 700
This creates video files using the best format, H264.
For faster conversions, change the conversion format from h264_ipod to divx5_mp3 or xvid_mp3
